Robin Giebelhausen is an assistant professor of music education at the University of Maryland College Park specializing in general music. She has a BME in music education from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana (2004), an MM from Northwestern University (2008), and a PhD from Michigan State University with a cognate in creativity (2015). Her dissertation focused on the composing experiences of three female graduate composition majors.

Dr. Giebelhausen was a public school music teacher in Libertyville, IL specializing in middle school general music and choir. Additionally, she was a general music teacher (PreSchool-8th grade) and choral director in Grand Ledge, MI. Prior to her appointment at UMD, she was an associate professor and coordinator of music education at the University of New Mexico where she also taught early childhood and adult community music classes. She has completed levels training in Orff-Schulwerk and has studied Dalcroze, Kodály, World Music Drumming, and Music Learning Theory. 

Dr. Giebelhausen's research interests include music education policy, secondary general music, gender issues in music, and music creativity pedagogy. Her eBook titled “Ukulele for Music Teachers” (available via iTunes and through her website) outlines many of these ideas using the ukulele as a central focus. In addition to her ukulele eBook, she has publications in the General Music Today, the International Journal of Music Education, Journal of Research in Music Education, Michigan Music Educator, and the New Mexico Musician. She maintains an active video blog through her YouTube channel covering topics related to music, education, and various other interests.
